Try to put a piece of self adhesive material between them as soon as you can. Felt, foam, any vegetal fibre but not plastics and rubbers because they all contain remnants of solvents that may further attack the paint. The newer contact adhesives are made from vegetals and will not harm paint like those of yesteryears.
