IMO
I will not be in line to buy one of these devices for several reasons.
1. I purchased an ereader because the screen technology either e-ink or reflective TFT displays are much easier on the eyes.
2. I can purchase an ebook reader and netbook that is expandable for less than the Ipad. I am not locked in with NON-expandable memory. I can not get 64 gig of storage without 3g and contracts. If I buy a $499 ipad I have 16 gig and if I want to upgrade I have to sell it and buy another.
3. It is bad enough that many ebooks are more expensive than printed books. Apple is going to drive the prices of ebooks even higher. They have a 30% markup so a print book sells for $7.95, an ebook on Amazon sells for $9.95 and the same book on Apple will sell for $14.95. NOT GOOD.
4. I buy Apple and they have a closed system that has me by the shorthairs because their system is closed. With many of the ereader companies perched on the edge to release the OS as open source, I will stay with an open source ereader.
Somehow the phrase "Dance with the Devil" comes to mind.
