Hi everyone,
I've recently bought myself a Sony PRS-600, and decided to register here as the forum seems pretty good. I've never owned an e-reader before, so I can't compare to other models.
I use my e-reader to read only non-fiction, so discussion that touches on research-related issues and the PRS-600 is what mostly interests me. Note-taking and underlining (plus no Kindle-style dependencies) was a deal-maker for me, though I must say I was rather disappointed with the device's (in)capabilities in exporting the notes. It sucks if I can't make highlights while reading and afterwards skim through the pages eyeing only the underlinings I've made in order to recall the essential points of the text quickly.
Given PRS-600's shortcomings, metaman's post
here was really interesting. I know almost nothing about programming, but offhand it seems like the annotations export might not be so difficult to hack, or write a program that does it for you instead of you having to do it manually (like in metaman's instructions).
I hope someone with good programming skills will be annoyed enough with the device's shortcoming so that they will write a program to solve it (one that runs on linux too :-)
