I tend to reach a version of software that is "good enough" and stop upgrading to more bloated versions. I use a word processor from 13 years ago (Word 97), an image viewer from 10 years ago (ACDSee 2.44) an image editor from 13 years ago (PaintShop Pro 4.14) an FTP program from 14 years ago (CuteFTP 1.8), Adobe Acrobat (not the reader-- the full thing) from 9 years ago (v5). Use MediaPlayerClassic for video (with the look of Windows Media Player way back from Win95-- I also still use the desktop look of Windows95, and I'm XP, not Vista, but that's pretty mainstream there...)
