Love the querky characters in the book - they all have issues and are slightly disturbed. It took a while to get the characters together in the storyline. I am still not sure, how they main characters figured out who the villain was, but I am sure a re-read will solve that (I am a somewhat fast and sloppy reader). Some people might not like the characters (there are more on the odd than on the normal side) but for me, they made the book as it made it harder to predict their next actions. I am now looking forward to the next one but will have a break and read something else (hmmmm - not decided what yet) so I don't tire of his writing.

I'm reading this right now (along with two other novels), and it REALLY is good. It's a mystery novel that aspires toward Literature.
I'm about 1/4 into it and can highly recommend it, especially if one enjoys convoluted and highly developed characters.
Thanks for mentioning this. I was going to wait until I finished, but I'm glad you mentioned it first!
