It's an interesting idea, people contributing the ebooks they find, free and independent books as well as Gutenberg..
Additional functionality would really kick it off though, as mentioned, the ability to convert and choose format on the fly. Also the ability to rate and share the books you find (I guess delicious does that too). Could be a great idea!
