Shel - I just finished "How to Wash a Cat" and I'm not sure if I'd recommend it. The ending was really convuluted and I'm still scratching my head. On the flip side though, it's finally getting me off my butt to read "A Crack in the Edge of the World" by Simon Winchester. "How to Wash a Cat" was based in San Francisco and talked a lot about the Gold Rush and the earthquake/fire of 1906. I got Winchester's book years ago when I worked at Waldenbooks as an Advance Readers copy and have never read it. Of course, a few months ago when I watched a program on it, I couldn't find the darn book. But now I have it, and that's what I'm reading next!
