The letter Amazon sent out is a transparent attempt to provide cover for an obviously defective design. What they should do is recall the covers already sold and install a fix--either Velcro or elastic straps--and replace the Kindles damaged as a result of using those covers.

A reader shouldn't break because the cover is opened the wrong way.
