Yes, it WILL pass - I quit via cold turkey after 42 years & 3 failed attempts to quit using patches. to my astonishment I felt really good after the third day, and much better on subsequent days.
Best bit: realising that I was completely over the physical addiction;
Worst bit: realising just how bad I must have smelt when I did smoke.

Interestingly, as someone else pointed out, it's the behaviour patterns that are more difficult to change.
