Sounds like you have no problem with the PRS-600 - it is your PC that is not authorized. Leave the PRS-600 unattached until the store is happy with your PC.

As far as I know, Adobe ADE is absolutely required on your PC; it manages your DRM and even the Sony software uses it under the covers.

I would not put your PRS-600 back to the factory condition unless you have a good reason to; you will lose one of your six device activations.

Go to the Settings page on the PRS-600 and touch About. If your device is authorized it will say so at the end of the first paragraph. Mine says This device is authorized for Adobe DRM protected content.

With a little luck one of the members from Adobe can give you better advice than I have, but I hope this helps.
