If I could quit, you can quit! Here's what happened to me:

I was up to about a pack and a half a day and working rotating shift. We had a large metal ashtray at the desk that was wide at the bottom, then narrowed to a vertical pipe then flared out at the top. Anyway, I was working a mid shift and smoking away. I went to stub out a cigarette and the ashtray went POOF and a cloud of ash rose up out of the top. IOW, the thing was completely filled up.

Since it was a mid shift and I wasn't too busy, I grumbled and picked the ashtray up and carried it out the back of the building to the large ashcan where you were supposed to empty the thing. I unscrewed the metal top part at the base and, when I saw what came out of the thing (remember this was all guys using this thing 24/7 and not too shy about what they put in the thing), I never touched another cigarette and that was over 40 years ago!

Whenever I got the urge, I thought of what came out of that ashtray...that was my lungs...and I immediately lost the desire.

For a couple of years, I didn't mind the smell of cigarettes and, in fact, kept ashtrays in my apartment for anybody who wanted to smoke. But then the smell started bothering me and that's when you know you are truly free of the habit!

Anyway, good luck to you. You can do it!!!!
