Traditionally, we have posted items on the front page that are considered of high interest to those with mobile devices and/or related to e-reading. Certainly, the choice of what goes on the front page won't satisy everyone, so I hope that readers will be understanding, and simply pick and choose what is interesting to them.
Just to give you an idea of what I was thinking in this case, it seems likely to be of interest not only to tablet PC and UMPC users and prospective buyers, but it also seems an appropriate topic due to the close ties with both mobile computing and e-books. There is, of course, a significant impact to anyone using format conversion programs or desktop software used for support of mobile computing, as has already been brought up a number of times in the forums.
Having said that, we certainly are sensitive to the fact that we have people visiting with all kinds of interests. We do our best to shape the selection and presentation of news items to be those that are meaningful to a large number of people, as well as staying focused on things that continue to excite us as editors. Hopefully, MobileRead will always remain a site that has personality as well as relevant news.
