This already exists on K2 (don't know about DX), but it's pretty well hidden. You can highlight the word/phrase you'd like to search, then press the space bar. This will copy your highlighted text to the search box. You can then use the 5-way to move the cursor to the right, past the "find" button, and you'll see all the buttons (my items, store, google, wiki, dictionary, note)

It obviously doesn't work on K1, but, sadly, I doubt the SDK will work on K1s, either, navigation is just so different on the two models.
