Well now, that's pretty ironic, given what the intent of my post was. Not a very accurate summary of what I said either - no one was told 'shut up and keep opinions to themselves'. Rather, I suggested that some might take
inadvertent offense with the context of that post and another (that was quite a bit harsher). But I do appreciate being defended to the death for my right to say it...
Look, the issue is one of sensitivity, not of censorship. It is silly to imply there is an ongoing debate about genres going on, because I've missed it if there has. I noted a couple of digs directed at books with Christian themes and tried to point out that those comments may be offensive to some folks who happen to share those religious beliefs. Nothing more or less was intended in pointing this out.
Now if my view is not shared or if others simply doesn't care, I guess it's simple enough to ignore the suggestion - which is what it was - and post anything you want. I don't see where thinking of others before posting is a bad thing (and note that does not mean don't post at all), but I never intended for this to become a distraction to the intent of the forum.
Kindlekitten, I'll say again that I'm sure you had no intent of offending anyone, and I would not suggest that you should not post anything. I certainly would not tell you or anyone else to shut up. You are a very active part of this Kindle community and that is appreciated by all. Personally I hope lots of freebies of the genres that you desire come your way, along with continuing all those that are available now for those who want them. The more the merrier, variety is the spice of life, and all that.
