Setting time zone within news recipe

It looks like Calibre uses UTC by default for all news recipe handling. Since news sites generally use date and time stamps relative to their own time zone, it would be useful to be able to customize a recipe to use that time zone offset when displaying and using dates. Does anyone know how to do this?
