Worse than that, his long time partner does not get anything from sales of the books, due to them not being married, his father and brother receive everything. Apparently he did not have a good relationship with his father. Why he didn't go get a will witnessed is another matter.

The above just received wisdom, I don't actually know that this is entirely true (I read it on wikipedia, i think, so it must be true...)
