She wrote one act plays that were given three acts and only one character; a thinly-disguised version of herself who she named Emily Sylvia Beatrice. Most of the plays ended with suicides of one form or another and soliloquoys by young girls, who standing upon the stage would talk of their inspiration; the thinly-disguised versions of Beatrice who had died within the plays. They would have been post-modern, but Beatrice hadn’t taken that module of her English class at that point.
