I just finished The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs. I wanted to like this book, but a lot of the parts that were supposed to be tearjerkers just left me cold. It seemed like the author was trying too hard, and was doing more telling than showing. It wasn't bad, it just seemed like it could have used some more judicious editing.
