Brushed aluminium. It's light, durable, and if it works for Macs it'll work for an eReader.
Engraved buttons are a great idea or if the screen of a new eReader is touchscreen, buttons may be irrelevant except for on and off.
If you have a plain brushed metal body, you can sell the colours as custom silicon skins.
