I think it's a wonderful idea. As far as customization goes, I'd like the be able to change the look of the device itself.
Perhaps with change able hard plastic, as most mobile phones come with. That would be lovely.
I hope to see your plans become reality one day soon! In the meantime I'll save up for it!
