This gave me a bit of a scare because I charged my Kindle this way straight out of the box and the buttons were so unresponsive I thought I had a faulty device.

Hi everyone, I am from Australia and about to buy a DX. I wondered how I could power up my Kindle here in Aus. knowing that the US and AUS electrical power charging systems are different.
Under the 'about your country' information on the Amazon Kindle site, it stated that
Kindle ships with a micro-USB cable for charging your Kindle via a computer USB port .
I can't see any reason why this will not work here Aus.
I'm sure hoping it will
