I couldn't help myself, I tried it out and converted a .lit file successfully from the mobileread collection, but I found out you have to install some additional software first, which may not have been entirely clear in the instructions I linked to. Also, the .lit file I converted did not have DRM, so there are probably a few more steps involved for purchased books. Anyway, check out the continuation at the link above.
