But the universe of languages can be and already are accommodated by the Epub format. And no matter how many "little steps" Amazon takes, Mobipocket will never be able to do it.

And if Amazon is going to take a "little step", then why not fix the Unicode problem first? Or, how about fixing font embedding first? Either one would make the Kindle significantly more useful. Instead, Amazon took the nonstep of expanding it to 2 more languages. Whoop-de-friggin'-do.
