Being US based my wireless bill is free on my Kindle.

You are absolutely right about shopping around (and for bestsellers this can help you save time) -but it is a statement on Kindle in some ways, since you are cut off from other stores as an option, at least with DRM'ed titles.
I mean the guide as a research tool, not necessarily as a guide to which device / store to go with.
