I have both. I prefer the Ectaco with text that is much much crisper and good in low light. The eb-1150 is more refined in some ways with a much better dictionary and wider choice of fonts, margins etc. Since it is backlit, the touchscreen is good. But on a reflective LCD screen (Ectaco) or e-ink, I see a touchscreen as a real negative- you cannot avoid or filter out a glare that arises from a double layer screen. The key based search on the ectaco works well, and you do not have to use T9. Just page down to select "Eng" for search type. Key entries with a number selection sub menu is fast and search speed is very fast. It will find a word 1000 pages deep in a second.

But trying to support that old imp format on the eb-1150 is a pain. The device was originally a marketing device for DRM and requires a lot of text manipulation to defeat and to create imp files. The eb-1150 is also quite heavy and not pocketable.
