399$ at the current exchange rates are about 275€, adding VAT, import duties, etc. (about 35% of the initial price) we get something like 370€, much less than the 499€ Irex is selling the DR800s in Europe.

I think that this high price difference can only be explained by the existence of a subsidizing agreement between Barnes & Noble and Irex.
