I broke calibre at install time -- recovered

I had a glitch installing calibre (yesterday, newest version, not beta) on Windows Vista.

I hadn't decided where I wanted the library when i saw the setup widget prompt, so I ended the widget window that was recommending a default folder.

It ended, but Calibre still started. But when I clicked on the settings or options button (whatever it's called -- I'm not near that computer right now), the application froze and I had to do a forced end by clicking on the "X" and ending it. After that, each time I started calibre it took me back to the main panel where I couldn't add or update or change the target folder because it would hang or loop each time.

I did a an uninstall and reinstall to get to the point where the widget asked for the library folder, and then it was OK. Perhaps I could have clicked on the down arrow beside the options (?) button to launch the widget instead of reinstalling, but didn't try that.
