"Latest" of course makes sense. With one exception: There's an older firmware version for Mobipocket support. From then on, all the updates have been about Adobe Digital Editions. So the main decision is: DRMed Mobipocket or ePUB? Dependig on that, the correct fimrware version has to be chosen. The older firmware version is still officially available.
BTW: You can use firmwares from (at least) ASTAK, BeBook, Jinke/Hanlin and some other units, based on Jinke architecture, from Eastern Europe.
