I don't see any reason why she should return a gift. It's not like an engagement ring which is given in return for the promise to marry. Personally, I would not feel right buying more books on his account after breaking up, even if he did cheat, but I certainly wouldn't expect all the birthday, Christmas and anniversary presents back from my exes. I'd consider it quite petty if they expected them back from me.

As for the books, I believe they are licensed to that Kindle's PID and won't be deleted but, like others say, you can't download them again after your Kindle is deregistered from the account. You also couldn't download a second copy registered for your Kindle for MAC PID. There are ways to remove the DRM from most Amazon books. Their encryption is the same as Mobipocket files. We can't tell you how to do that here, since sharing that information can leave Mobileread subject to action but the information is out on the internet.
