Yes, it will preformat your books, it means no delay when opening for the first time and when changing text size.

I also have a question: What does Calibre do that other SW cannot perform better? Managing your books: any file manager is easier to use. Converting books: BookDesigner is an order of magnitude better than Calibre. Transferring books: the Sony software does it with preformatting.
