Congrats, I know you will get a lot of use from it.
You need BOTH Adobe Digital and Calibre. You need Adobe to use the DRM books, you have to authorize your computer and reader. Calibre will be your main program. Its great for organizing and converting. You could go ahead and get both now (free of course) and get a lot of it set up before the reader arrives.
