The Goldilocks phenomenon

Funny, but I'm in the same pool as the OP: Dell PC, Kindle, Macbook, eeepc netbook, and iPod Touch w/Stanza (epub), GoodReader (PDFs), Kindle App (azw).

What would the use case be for a tablet?

I find that the majority of my device time consists of browsing and consuming media or interacting with applications, on and offline.

If my spouse is on the Macbook, I read my feeds or play games on the iPod. The PC is too cumbersome to boot and the netbook is slower to get a signal for say just checking the weather or too hot on the lap. Commute time goes to the Kindle or iPod because the other devices are too heavy.
Different uses, different places-
Too heavy, hot, big, tiny, slow...the list goes on.

All these experiences are tradeoffs like the eternal thread about 'Which e-reader reads PDF or manga or XYZ format the best?'

It is the old story of 'what is just right?'
(back in the day it used to be my trusty Palm OS device, anyone remember the TRGPro? Loved that baby.)

Testing my inner Goldilocks, I'm waiting for a superlative user experience that will optimize convenience of form and function.

Apple has a good track record of providing that level of usability.

Aside from sixthsense, I'm hoping for an enlarged iPod Touch with camera that runs my apps. Despite enjoying ssh, bash and other fun diversions with jailbreaking, I reverted and found many apps that work well enough to forgive the closed nature of the device.

Mr. Jobs, my needs are simple!

The only other promising player is Notion Ink's Adam with that bedazzling PixelQi display which I wish Apple would adopt. Go Mary Lou!

I can't wait to see what they come up with.
