your reasoning makes perfect sense to me and I agree with it...the only compromise I think you'll end up dealing with is that all of the larger readers will have added functions which you may not ever use...eh, so do my laptops. I never used the fingerprint scanner, almost immediately disabled the ambient light sensor and who the heck uses a modem anymore? I suppose a few folks are still tuck with dial-up but I don't recall using dial-up once in the past 6yrs.
So, yeah, I bet the Que is a solid choice for what you describe. For me, not so much...in fact I decided no large format reader for me until June at the earliest. The Skiff concerns me for one reason...HEARST is behind the device and that only means control and forced content in terms of information. So as much as I like the features of that device, I get a queasy feeling the more I think about how Hearst does things...
