Why do they call it a duck-billed platypus? I mean, sure, it's got a duck-like bill, but it's not like there's a chicken-billed platypus (mass: 1 henway), or a dollar-billed platypus (the platypus is on the Oz 20-cent coin), or a gerbilled platypus (because they're not into any of that kinky stuff - I know, I've asked)? I mean really, it's like saying "long-necked giraffes" or "legless snakes" or "unfunny Will Ferrell movies". It means poor Shel has typed way more letters than necessary, and she's got better things to do. We should make a point to erase "duck-billed platypus" from popular usage. Who's with me?! FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT! JOIN THE INTERNATIONAL WORLD ASSOCIATION FOR THE ELIMINATION OF THE NEEDLESS UNNECESSARY UNREQUIRED REDUNDANT VERBIAGE OF EXCESS WORD USAGE.

Also, it's sunny here. Warmish. I might go for a swim.

Cheers,
Marc
