I don't know the answers to your three specific QUE questions -- I could provide them for the KDX :-), but if I were in your shoes I would just push on in evaluating the QUE. At the end of the day the decision-maker for me was that I guessed that I could recover the KDX purchase price in about a year based on laser toner cartridge and cases of copy paper not bought. In the two months that I have had my KDX, I have certainly seen a dramatic drop in the use of my laser printers, but the surprising saving has been in the cost of general book titles. I had been accustomed to getting 35 to 40% off at Amazon.com, and now (through about 150 titles) I am getting close to 50% off.
Since your usage seems to be mostly of a business nature, I don't think the Amazon.com savings would be that compelling to you. I don't know what the availability of general titles on the Que device will be, nor do I know what the availability of periodical titles will be either. I do think that you could probably recover the price of the Que in a reasonable amount of time, however. I would advise getting the cheaper of the devices -- as I don't think the 3G network access, nor the additional memory capacity will be all that important -- as it will certainly be possible to move documents back and forth between the Que and your PC quite easily.
Based on what little I know about the QUE, I think that it will be able to communicate with your office PCs via the built-in WiFi capabilities.
