Remember one very very very important Apple fact.

NEVER! NEVER! NEVER! Buy a 1st release of ANY Apple product. Apple is well known for screwing the customer by doing things like lowering the price and/or coming out with an improved model for no more money or even less money. Just take a look at the iPhone and what they did to customers.
