Just saw your answer in another thread. Thanks RonF for the step by step and Sony software test. Dan

Putting this here from the other thread for anyone else that has this question.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Up until now I have only been using Calibre. So I installed Sony Reader Library, hooked up the reader and it recognized it along with ALL of the installed books. It also showed the screenshots that I took with the new firmware

I then proceeded to go to the estore. I found a free book, put it in cart and tried to "purchase" I needed to create an account first, and then it found the "unauthorized" device and asked me to activate. I activated it, and then "bought" the free book. It was downloaded to my library on the computer, I then dragged it onto the reader, disconnected and then started to read it.
So, short answer is, yep, it works fine with the software

I'm just wondering if future OFFICIAL updates from Sony would have any trouble. But I think an Internal memory format should do the trick prior to officially updating? Although I probably would skip minor updates if I'm going to end up without the clock and the page turns

I am also concerned about this as well. But I was thinking that since this has been around for more than 2 years on other units (505) it shouldn't be a big issue. At least that's my hope
