Hya Meredith. Great to see you here.

By the way, folks, Meredith -- a superb author and fine professional fiction editor -- was one of the early torch-bearers of ebook reading. Way back in the last century, she opened the ground-breaking Jacobyte Books in Australia; highly selective and dedicated to producing perfectly edited and designed ebooks in a range of exciting genres.

Sadly, she and her team were just a tad too far ahead of their time for Oz -- iternational distribution was a bugbear, affordable paperback release was impossible, and local arts authorities ignored their ebook enterprise and what great things they had to offer -- and her publishing company merged with BeWrite Books several years ago to keep its titles alive. That's one of the reasons why BB attracts so many wonderful authors from Down Under.

Now, of course, ebook reading is exploding onto the Antipodean literary scene with new devices available and a whole heap of new retail outlets offering ebooks.

As Meredith said in a note to me the other day -- "Who'd have guessed?"

Well, Meredith Whitford for one.

Cheers. Neil

PS: Meredith's excellent historical novel, *Treason*, is available now in all formats at Smashwords. You can search it by title, author or by going to the BeWrite Books publisher's page at www.smashwords.com. N
