I don't understand the point of the slider, except for a gimmick. If anything needs protection, it's the screen. I would hardly think that the three or so buttons need to be harbored. And when I'm ready to read I don't want to go through a "ritual" to get the thing open, then deal with the interface. I'd want to get right to it.
