I thank all who have participated in this thread. I learned the name to put to the impression I have always had -- Security Theatre. And I was reminded of the word that describes what it is based upon -- hyperbole.
I have also concluded long ago that TSA employment interviews consist of only one thing -- if you are courteous and polite during the interview, you won't be hired.
