Received a prs 300 for xmas and have been enjoying it very much so far. I always thought my reader had a much darker background than the ones on display or pictures I've seen online. Monday I took it to a sony store and then to a best buy and compared with 4 other 300's, and mine did have a darker gray background. Not bad in bright light but hard on the eyes in room lighting or even with the sony light and case. Called Sony yesterday and they authorized a refund or replacement. Picked up a new one yesterday and it is so much better. Real happy camper now. Software for mac is actually working great now also, which was a constant problem before. Thanks Sony.
