When I buy a book proposed in multiformat, I try Mobipocket, but if it's not so great (and it's pretty often the case !), I choose the Microsoft Reader (LIT) one, as I think it's the better to be converted !
Then ConvertLit, and Mobipocket Creator !
I use Mobi2Mobi too, for Mobipocket ones lacking of cover, or title, or author.
As I have a PRS600 too, I use Python script to strip DRMs, from Mobi, Kindle, ePub or PDF, when I want to read my ebooks on the other device !
A lot of work, yes, but only every now and then, when needed (I don't convert/strip DRM if I don't need to, I'm not against reading DRMed books on my readers !
