I bought the PRS-300 on New Years Eve and have been very pleased with it. My purchase decision was driven mostly by the size and screen appearance. I have a friend with the Kindle 2 and think it too large for easy portability and reading on the bus. The Sony 600 while still smaller than the standard Kindle did not impress me, I found the screen glare distracting and really did not care about the touch screen.
The PRS-300 is a good basic reader that had all the functions and features I wanted.
I have been using both the Sony software and Calibre with no problems so far. In all I am very happy with my purchase. Dan
