An interesting story. It's a stand-alone novel, rather than an obvious start to a series, which helps a lot - fantasy triologies have been overdone, and it would have been easy for her to stretch the story over more pages. Perhaps it's like that because it's towards the romance end of Fantasy (or the fantasy end of romance).

Now onto something completely different - Quanty, by Darrell Bain (with a bit of tweaking by Travis S. Taylor). I've enjoyed his other SF, although its certainly towards the lighter end of SF than most. (EE 'Doc' Smith-like in some ways.)
