When filming of Star Trek The Next Generation started, other cast members -- aware of Stewart's brilliance and theatrical reputation -- hung a joking message on the door of his trailer reading: "Unknown British Shakesperean Actor." All good fun, but the tongue-in-cheek sign hints that his ability was obviously already recognised. (Sorry for my slip with the House of Lords -- I've been away from the UK for a looong time.) Best.
