Copyright isn't the issue, Steve - what are called "geographical restrictions" are. Many publishers are only permitted to sell their books in specific countries, and this is enforced by the eBook stores where appropriate.

You've presumably looked at Waterstones and W.H.Smiths. A decent US bookstore which does have a fair range available is "BooksOnBoard".
