If you're not happy with the 505 screen you'll be disappointed in the 300 as it's more or less the same, just an inch (diagonally) smaller. This reduced size combined with the same pixel count (600x800) gives it a higher pixel density so it can look a bit sharper and better defined. However the downside is that with the fonts adjusted to the same size you see less text.
I bought a 300 the other day in the sales to
complement my 505 (the 300 is more suitable for travel) and I'm very pleased with it. I wouldn't set out to
replace the 505 with a 300 though unless my primary need was for a travel device.
