I feel bad for your son. They're overworked and understaffed out there in the great white north. And in some places, horribly underpaid.
I called over there for some research not too long ago. Found out that they were lucky to have a trooper for every 150 sqmi. That's a long time to wait for backup. The guy I talked to was out in the Fairbanks area if memory serves.
It scares me about as much as the guys that work in the rural parts of the country. Met a guy from some small county in TN...It was him, a deputy chief, and a second deputy. They were pretty much the whole force.
