ADE won't recognize the Sony Readers on the Mac, only on Windows. You'll want to either use the Sony software on the Mac.
For the Sony asking to reactivate the account the problem is that they think you have a different AdobeID (probably the one they created for you). Unfortunately this is only an issue that Sony can fix - let me know how that goes.
