Instead of uninstalling and rebooting I went to the device manager, selected the device and "update the driver" then manually selected the driver and it worked.

I don't really understand why it stopped working though, I was already using this with a .bat file. It works fine with the alpha of our software: it downloaded and sent to the reader all of my subscriptions.
